10 lb. 8 o.z. bass caught by Billy Westmoreland
I recently had a chance to review this lure and it is amazing! Way better than the original that Billy Westmoreland loved…in my opinion. They are using Gamakatsu hooks which means they stay sharp…no sharpening or replacing. These hooks typically cost 2-3 times other hooks for a reason.
Good right out the box which is WAY more than can be said for ANY other spinner out there. Hand-tied marabou that really flares in the water! Why is this important….it will trigger strikes with a twitch of rod tip which will result in more fish in the boat. I really like the 1/2 oz size for fishing in deep water 20′ + at Dale Hollow or Cumberland. It tracks true on the fall and retrieve!
In fact, the first thing I asked Josh was do you have a 3/4 oz with a bigger blade and larger hooks? Sorry Josh, it’s the power fisherman in me. It will be a VERY good compliment to the swimbait in the early spring when they are following but not eating. Just get it down there, slow roll it back on 10-12 lb test, medium action rod baitcasting or 10 lb powerpro braid with a 10′ leader of 10-12 lb fluorocarbon on a medium action spinning rod 2500 series type reel. Always connect your leader with a double uni knot. 8 wraps on the Fluoro side and 5 wraps on the braid side. This is very key to having a good knot that doesn’t break.
This setup is ideal for getting the distance and fighting fish with this lure. You really need a setup that loads up well absorbing the shock and a reel that can draw up the excess line fast. The 1/4 oz size is perfect for fishing in Canada/BWCA as well as the Cumberland or Dix Rivers.
Well done guys! Fantastic lure!!
First and foremost I would like to say thank you for your amazing customer service. Now as for the reason for this testimonial, I'll get straight to the point. I shop for all my fishing gear at a local sporting goods store here in Hazard, KY. Upon my last visit, I was looking for something different to use for white bass. I purchased two of the Pedigo's lures, one 1/4 oz, and one 1/2 oz; both in white color.
For the past 1 - 2 weeks the white bass have been striking everything that moves but it seems the only thing they would even look at is green or chartreuse. I tried the lure hoping to get a strike and I'm happy to say this is the only lure other than a green colored lure to get a strike for almost 2 weeks. In my 40 years of fishing, I've never seen a lure perform to this standard!
I've thrown multiple lures such as rooster tails, little George and even a few older little Suzy with 0 luck unless it was in green. Using the white 1/4 oz lure I caught 7 really nice white bass, 2 Largemouth in the 2-pound range and 6 KY Bass in the 13-15" size range and what's so awesome, it looks like it just came out of the pack.
"On a side note, hands down the best hooks I've ever seen on a lure." I'm now a fan and I see myself fishing these lures for many years to come. Oh, One more thing... I just remembered that I also caught a really nice hand sized bluegill and 2 eight inch crappie on the 1/4 oz also.
Once again, thank you! I love buying things made in our state and I just placed an order for a 1/2 oz and a 3/4 oz in Chartreuse, I can only imagine the success I'll have when using the color the fish hit best in Buckhorn Lake.
Thank you for an awesome lure,
